Stapleton Public Library

Gail Barry, landscape architect

Land Mark Design was contracted by OZ Architecture to create the landscape plan for Denver’s new public library in Stapleton Neighborhood.  The plan included streetscape and easy care planting along 3 sides of the site.  Parking lot planting, a large front plaza area and a connection between the library site and the neighbors to the south were all part of the design.  Site furniture was selected and bike and stroller parking included.  The front plaza has a meandering planting bed meant to be somewhat stream-like.  A fund raising plan to sell specially engraved pavers to the public was decided upon.  These were placed within the meandering planting bed and function as access-ways across the plaza.  The plaza was designed to echo the radius of the building and scoring pattern in the concrete also followed this plan.
