Cherry Creek Roof Garden
Gail Barry, landscape architect
This townhouse in Cherry Creek had the master bedroom opening to an unsightly garage roof top and alley scape. The clients wished to screen their view of the alley and have a pleasant space to look at from their sliding glass door. The clients particularly admired Japanese art and architecture. A Japanese style roof garden was designed for the top of the roof. The structure and water proofing of the roof was modified first. Then raised beds were craned into the space followed by plants, some stone paving and other features. A shoji style screen was created above the railing height fence to block the view into the alley while the other two sides had solid fencing.
